Dean's passion for routesetting has guided his career ever since he picked up a drill at Earth Treks in 2009. During this time he was the Lead Instructor and asked to learn routesetting to better set the instructional rooms for his classes. The desire to improve setting for the intended audience is the foundation of Dean's setting philosophy. The Routesetter should be able to empathize with their intended audience and provide a product that optimizes their experience whether it is a first time climber (at a gym, or school, or park), a recreational climber striving to advance their skills, or a competition climber training for the highest levels of competition.
